How do I book in for a session?
You can book in for a session at Kareela Therapy Room by emailing us at info@mariefarthing.com or calling us on 0418 253 550.
You can book online https://myhealth.net.au/engadine/ or call Myhealth Engadine directly on 9520 0444 for a session at Engadine Therapy Room.
How long is a session?
Session times are 50 minutes in duration. Initial sessions may require longer and are charged accordingly.
How are counselling and therapy sessions delivered?
Sessions are provided in-person from Kareela or Engadine Therapy Room. Home visits can be arranged for clients who have physical disability; or for clients who’s sensory issues make traveling difficult for them.
Online or phone counselling is an alternative to in-person sessions when:
It is the client’s preference.
Due to COVID or other health restrictions in-person sessions are not recommended.
A client is unable to attend the therapy rooms in-person.
Fees
Fees differ depending on the service you require.
Payment is made at the time of your visit, unless otherwise arranged with third parties.
EFT, cash, NDIS funding, Victims Services funding, Open Arms funding are all accepted.
Medicare Rebates
Marie is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Medicare Provider of focussed psychological strategies. The Medicare Rebate is available to children, adolescents, and adults who are referred by their GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician using a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral letter.
Referred clients are able to access 10 Medicare-subsidised psychological therapy sessions per calendar year for Individual Therapy, and an additional 10 sessions per calendar year for Group Therapy.
Victims Support Scheme
Marie is an approved Counsellor with Victims Services NSW https://www.victimsservices.justice.nsw.gov.au/victims-services/how-can-we-help-you/victims-support-scheme/counselling.html and can provide up to 22 hours of counselling through the Victims Support Scheme. Counselling is intended to help you recover from the psychological and emotional impacts of a crime.
Private Health Insurance Rebates
If you have Private Health Insurance, you may be able to access subsidised counselling and psychology services via your policy. In this situation, you will not need to have a MHCP. The rebate varies depending on your level of cover, so please call your Private Health Fund to clarify and gain more information.
Eligible Bupa members can claim benefits for services delivered by Accredited Mental Health Social Workers.
Teachers Health Fund and its sub-brand, UniHealth Insurance, provide their Top Extras Cover members with access to services provided by Accredited Mental Health Social Workers as a private health insurance benefit.
Members of Nurses and Midwives Health, which is also managed by Teachers Health, also have access to Accredited Mental Health Social Workers.
How is children’s therapy different to adults?
Child-focussed therapy approaches incorporate play and creative expression and differs to adult therapy. The child and therapist work together in a counselling space which is equipped with activities, toys and resources that aim to encourage expression of feelings while supporting the development of healthy behaviours in a safe, child-friendly environment.
What happens if I am running late for my session?
Please call or send a text message to advise you are delayed. When you book a session that space is reserved for you and we aim to begin each session on time. Please understand that if you are late for a session, we will still end at the scheduled time.
Cancellation Policy
Your counsellor will prepare for your session. 24 hours notice is required to reschedule or cancel an appointment otherwise full fees are charged. Exceptional circumstances are considered on a case by case basis.
